The last time we made our Luca polos they absolutely flew out of the shop and with good reason. Our Luca polos combine the informality of a polo with the formality of a shirt. Your ideal ‘Oh yeah… I remember that thing you asked me to go to 3 weeks ago, but I have now forgotten about’ shirt.
The shirt has a collar stand, proper button cuffs with a button on the pocket and 3 button placket. The type of shirt that you won’t ever take off as it will take you from the office, to tea and then a night at the bingo. The polos also featured a yellow bar tack on the placket indicating that these are the second edition (the first was pink). We have also managed to reduce the price of these from the original £60 right down to £45, which we really must thank the lovely people in Portugal who manufactured the polos for.
The polos come in two colours our Berkeley Blue, which is a mix of navy blue and grey, our two team colours and Bowden Burgundy which is a rich burgundy, exactly the same as what FSU play in, I promise it is NOT red.
Our Luca polos are also one of our most environmentally sound products. The fabric itself is made from a 50% polyester and 50% cotton pique. The polyester is made from recycled plastic bottles recovered from the Atlantic coast of Portugal and the cotton from clothing destined for landfill. The buttons are made from Codelite, which is a biodegradable material made from 96% diary products. The polos are made in Portugal where the fabric manufacturer through to the machinists are paid a fair wage (we have checked) and money from every sale will go to Portuguese marine wildlife charities for them to carry on their excellent conservation work. If you would like to read more about this, head over here.
The fit of our polos is similar to the originals that were popularised in the 1960s in that they are a little relaxed and loose. If you would like a trimmer fit go down a normal size from your regular. Luca (person in most of the photos) usually wears a large and is wearing a medium, Iain (letterman jacket) is usually an XL and is wearing and XL, Maddie (grey hat) is usually a small and is wearing a small.
So that’s an ethically made, beautifully manufactured, environmentally sound, nice-looking garment that will have you sorted from morning ’til night… what more could you ask for?
