Capitano T-Shirt – Mar Tirreno
Here at TRiCKETT we flipping love t-shirts. They form a major part of our sartorial diet and although we have many, we are never truly happy. There are t-shirts that are cheap, some expensive and some in the middle. Many contain things we like and dislike, so rather than be upset we did something about it… we made our own. This comes in a beautiful deep, navy blue, like the sea off the west coast of Italy, but has a sine and shimmer like you are in a rowing boat on top. Not because you are stranded or anything, just becasue you like sailing.
The Capitano t-shirts are inspired by the great football captains and the wearing of captains armbands. We always thought that the shirts from the ’60s and ’70s always looked really great and aesthetically very clean. We were also inspired by the way Cannavaro wore his shirt when lifting the World Cup in 2006, he just seemed to wear the jersey with an effortless elegance.
We also wanted to bring the fit and details right up to date, so here is what we came up with *inhales*. The shirt features a ‘captain’s” armband on the left arm so you can always been like a midfield general wherever you are. The length of the t-shirt isn’t a modern skirt and it isn’t a crop top, just the perfect length for all occasions. There are side splits for a little extra articulation at the hips, which is also reinforced that you don’t rip it. The neck is a high bound neck, non of that weird rib stuff for us. The main body of the t-shirt is flat lock 4 needle stitched for extra security and we think it looks nice. Oh and the t-shirt is made in Lancashire by the best t-shirt manufacturer in Europe.
This Capitano is made from our own fabric which was made for us in Italy by Loro Piana, the fabric that they produce is amongst the best in the world and this custom manufactured jersey is no different. It is a blend of 10% Cashmere, 10% Silk and 80% cotton, so has all the luxury you could ever need with the practicality of cotton. The sheen on this t-shirt is unlike anything we have ever seen. Like a mix of Labrador’s coat and Pirlo’s hair. The cotton is gassed Mercerized (that was invented in Great Harwood don’t you know?) which makes it tough and gives it the midfield maestro / glossy dog sheen. Loro Piana retail their own t-shirts for well over £200 and although this may seem a little expensive, for what you get it really is fantastic value. IT’S OUR OWN FABRIC!!! Did I mention that?
So as you can see not your average t-shirt, but we don’t do average around here. Yep, it is a little bit more expensive than your average t-shirt, but we believe that the basics are worth paying a little more for.
